Ampliation

The official copy of the decree sent to the naturalized person.

The ampliation is the official copy of the naturalization decree sent to the person concerned. Before 1 February 2023 it carried the Journal Officiel publication date: service-public.gouv.fr states that this date appeared on the ampliation sent by post or email, and that the date has since been available in the ANEF account.

If you no longer have your ampliation, service-public.gouv.fr says the information can be requested from the Ministry of the Interior, by post or email, at the French nationality sub-directorate.

For decrees published since 2016, the extract put online on Légifrance carries an authenticated electronic signature: service-public.gouv.fr states that no certified copy is then needed to give it evidential value. Decrees from before 2 June 2004 are not electronically signed and must be authenticated for legalisation abroad.

The ampliation then serves as supporting evidence in your next steps: together with your birth certificate, it is asked for to establish your French nationality when applying for a first identity card or passport.
