REZE (ministerial number)
The ministerial number, commonly called the “REZE number”, identifies your naturalization file during central processing. It looks like 2026X 012345: four digits for the year the file was registered, one letter, then six digits. You find it on the filing receipt given by the prefecture and on letters from the Ministry of the Interior.
The nickname comes from the town where the French nationality sub-directorate sits: Rezé, in Loire-Atlantique. The ministerial number should not be confused with the file number the prefecture assigns locally when you file: it is the ministerial number that is printed in the decrees published in the Journal Officiel.
We found no official source documenting what the letter after the year means, so we do not interpret it, and AlertJO monitors every decree whatever that letter is. It is this number, not your name, that you enter in AlertJO's free search: it identifies a file uniquely, where a name can have namesakes.
