NAT

A code used in the decrees published in the Journal Officiel for people naturalized by decree.

In the nominative extract published in the Journal Officiel, each person is followed by a three-letter code, placed between their place of birth and their ministerial number. NAT is the most frequent one in the decrees we analyse.

We found no official document publishing the list of these codes and their meaning. So we do not interpret them: we only report which codes appear in the decrees analysed and how many people carry each of them, figures you will find on our statistics pages.

What is documented is that naturalization by decree and reintegration into French nationality are, according to service-public.gouv.fr, two distinct procedures, and that a minor child becomes French if their name is mentioned in their parent's decree. AlertJO monitors the decrees whatever the category on each line.
