How to Cancel Your Naturalization Decree Alert After Publication

Cancelling a naturalisation decree alert: what you need to know once the decree is published

Once you've found your ministerial number in a naturalisation decree published in the Journal Officiel (JORF), the email alert has done its job. You can then pause or cancel it from your account, and request the deletion of your data at any time (GDPR).

An alert bell sitting still next to a computer that is switched off: the idea of cancelling a naturalisation decree alert once it has done its job.

The basics at a glance

  • REZE: the number assigned to your naturalisation file by decree. It is what allows you to be found in the decree without any name being displayed.
  • Ministerial number: it follows the format year + series letter + six digits, for example 2026X 012345.
  • Email alert: it notifies you when this number appears in a published decree. Searching by REZE number remains free. The alert itself is a one-time payment.

The JORF is the Journal officiel de la République française, the official gazette of the French Republic. Its texts are published by the DILA (Direction de l'information légale et administrative, the French legal and administrative information authority) on Légifrance.

AlertJO is not affiliated with the Ministry of the Interior, the SDANF (sous-direction de l'accès à la nationalité française, the sub-directorate for access to French nationality), the prefectures or Légifrance. We use public data without altering the content of the decrees, and we neither collect nor display the name of any naturalised person.

How do you know your decree has been published?

Before cancelling, check for yourself that the decree has been published. An alert email is a handy notification, but only the text published in the Journal Officiel (JORF) is authoritative.

  1. Open the Journal Officiel website or Légifrance, where the DILA publishes the texts.
  2. Find the relevant naturalisation decree in the issue of the day given in your alert.
  3. Search for your ministerial number, in the format year + letter + six digits (e.g. 2026X 012345), using the page's search function.
  4. Compare it character by character with your own.

You don't need to read or note down anyone else's name. Your number is enough.

If you can't find it, don't cancel yet. No publication date can be promised.

AlertJO is not affiliated with Légifrance or the Ministry of the Interior. We do not alter the content of the decrees.

Pausing or cancelling: what's the difference for your alert?

Pausing puts your email alert on hold. Cancelling stops it permanently.

Pausing: a temporary hold

Your ministerial number stays linked to your account, but no messages are sent. It's a good option if you're unsure about the publication, or if a relative is going through another process and you think you may need it. You can resume afterwards.

Cancelling: a permanent stop

Notifications stop and the alert will not reactivate by itself. This is the right choice once you've checked your number in the decree in the JORF. Cancelling does not erase your data, though: that is a separate request (GDPR).

If in doubt, pause first. You can cancel later, with no rush.

Steps to stop your notifications, one by one

Once you've found your REZE number in the published decree, stopping notifications takes just a few minutes. The exact labels may vary from screen to screen: follow the logic below rather than looking for a specific button.

  1. Log in to your AlertJO account using the email address you used when you created the alert.
  2. Open your alert settings, where the ministerial number being tracked appears (for example 2026X 012345).
  3. Choose an option: pause (temporary hold) or cancel (permanently stop notifications).
  4. Confirm your choice by validating the requested action.
  5. Check the confirmation message, on screen and, if applicable, in your inbox. Remember to look in your spam folder.

Keep this message: it confirms that your request has been taken into account.

If the option doesn't appear

Don't keep trying over and over. Contact AlertJO support, giving the email address linked to the alert and your ministerial number. Specify whether you want a pause or a cancellation.

Reminder: AlertJO is not affiliated with the Ministry of the Interior, the SDANF, the prefectures or Légifrance. Cancelling the alert therefore has no effect on your naturalisation process, which is handled by the competent authorities.

One-time payment and free search: what changes after cancellation

Cancelling does not trigger any new charge. The alert is a one-time payment: you paid once, and there is no subscription to cancel.

A coin lying next to an alert bell on its side and a computer showing a magnifying glass: the one-time payment is settled, the alert stops, the free search remains.

In practice, here is what changes after cancellation:

  • You no longer receive email alerts for your ministerial number.
  • The free search by REZE number remains available: you can still check for yourself whether your number appears in a published decree.
  • If your situation changes, you can consult the Journal Officiel (JORF) directly on Légifrance.

A note of caution: we do not document any refund after cancellation. If you have a question about your payment, contact support, who will reply based on your case.

Reminder: AlertJO is not affiliated with the Ministry of the Interior, the SDANF, the prefectures or Légifrance.

Deleting your data at any time (GDPR)

The GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation, a European law) allows you to request the erasure of your personal data. At AlertJO, this covers your email address and your ministerial number.

Cancelling the alert stops the notifications. Deleting your data is a separate step: it's up to you to request it.

How to do it

  1. Write to AlertJO support from the email address you used to sign up.
  2. State that you are requesting data deletion under the GDPR.
  3. Specify the number to be erased, for example 2026X 012345.
  4. Keep the confirmation that your request has been processed.

We do not promise a specific timeframe: it depends on how the request is processed.

What we don't collect

AlertJO neither collects nor displays the name of any naturalised person. We work from public data, with no link to the Ministry of the Interior, the SDANF, the prefectures or Légifrance.

What if the decree hasn't appeared yet?

If your number hasn't appeared yet, keep the alert active. That is precisely what it's for: letting you know as soon as it appears in a published decree.

Publication depends on the processing batch your file falls into at the SDANF (sous-direction de l'accès à la nationalité française). Files are processed in batches, and then the decrees are published in the Journal Officiel (JORF). AlertJO does not know the order of these batches and cannot influence it.

Any timeframe you read on forums or in personal accounts is only an estimate, not a guaranteed deadline. It varies from one file to another.

In the meantime:

  • Check that your ministerial number has been entered correctly (e.g. 2026X 012345).
  • Make sure your emails aren't ending up in your spam folder.
  • Run the free search on Légifrance again from time to time.

For any question about the progress of your file, contact your prefecture or the SDANF: AlertJO is not affiliated with either of them.

Data sources and AlertJO's independence

The naturalisation decrees we consult come from a single source: the Journal Officiel de la République française (JORF). It is published by the DILA (Direction de l'information légale et administrative), notably on Légifrance.

This is public data. AlertJO uses it to find a ministerial number, but never alters the content of the decrees. If in doubt, the text published in the JORF is authoritative, not an alert email.

AlertJO is not affiliated with the Ministry of the Interior, the SDANF, the prefectures or Légifrance. We do not process your file and have no influence over its timeline.

We do not display the name of any naturalised person. And you can request the deletion of your data at any time (GDPR).
